Spotify users using Apple Watch can take a sigh of relief. You can eventually download playlists, albums, and podcasts to your watch for offline use.

Spotify has stated in its official blog that offline playlists will be launched from today. All users have to do is simply select the music or podcast they want to listen to, press the three dots, and then click “Download to Apple Watch”. Then, a small green arrow will appear next to the fully downloaded content. The update also uses voice commands such as “Hey, Siri, Play My Discover Weekly Playlist on Spotify” to provide a watch with Siri’s support for Spotify. (You just have to remember to add the “On Spotify” section.)

That said, there are some warnings. To get an offline playlist, you must have an Apple Watch Series 3 or higher running at least on WatchOS 6. However, Spotify recommends running watchOS 7.1 or higher for the best experience. The watch also requires a cellular or WiFi connection, a feature available only to Spotify Premium users. Most importantly, you will need to download the latest version of Spotify on your iPhone and watch. Still dizzy!

The Spotify application on Apple Watch has experienced a long and bumpy journey. Although the first Apple Watch was released in 2015, it was not until 2018 that Spotify created an app for smart watches. Unfortunately, App Honor is nothing more than a remote control. Users who want an offline playlist for phone-free activities are forced to either switch to Apple Music, find another smart watch, or leave their mobile phone and take it with them. At the end of last year, when Spotify began introducing streaming music to Apple Watch, the situation changed.
