OnePlus 10 Pro Price may come with limited zoom capability
We earlier talked about periscope lenses being the new trend among flagship smartphones. The folded lens technology allows longer optical zoom within a thin lens; hence the overall protrusion of the camera module is reduced. OnePlus was previously hinted to adopt the technology with its upcoming OnePlus 10 series. It now seems that the new OnePlus phones will not embrace it, at least for now.
The information comes from noted Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station. As per its post on Weibo, the flagship model in the series, which is the OnePlus 10 Pro, will not feature a periscope zoom among its camera capabilities. Instead, the device will come with a standard optical unit for zooming.
The post further shares the specifics of the zoom unit, which will apparently allow 3.3x magnification and up to 30x digital zoom. As per the tipster, the sensor will not carry a high resolution, and hence the hybrid zoom enabled by it will probably be less than impressive.

Interestingly, the tipster even mentions OnePlus’ sister companies will not have the periscope zoom camera anytime soon. This means flagship offerings like the Oppo Find X, or the Realme GT will not sport the feature as well.
Other than this, we know that OnePlus will continue the Hasselblad branding for its camera offerings on the OnePlus 10 and the OnePlus 10 Pro. Renders have shown that the Pro model will come with a massive square camera module that bends around the edge. In this, there will be a triple-lens camera setup along with an LED flash.
A few hints have also emerged about the OnePlus 10, suggesting that it will be launched alongside the OnePlus 10 Pro. However, not much is known about the device at this time and more information is awaited as we near the launch.
The interesting factor to note for the OnePlus phones is the expected launch timeline this time. It is highly speculated that OnePlus will launch the devices way earlier than its annual flagship smartphone launch in March. This will help the company to introduce the OnePlus 10 lineup in competition with Samsung’s Galaxy series of phones, which usually arrive late in January.
A recent tip, however, suggests that the early launch of the OnePlus 10 phones may be restricted to China. This might be followed by a global launch for the phones in March.
As things are confirmed by OnePlus, we will share the updates on the OnePlus 10 series right here. So stay tuned to this space for more.
