Longtime politician and former astronaut Marc Garneau has announced his retirement from the House of Commons.

The Liberal MP announced his resignation to his Quebec caucus colleagues on Wednesday morning.

“Out of respect, I want to talk to my group first,” he said when asked by reporters Wednesday morning to comment on his resignation.
