What is Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s salary?

Most Canadians are not aware of how much Justin Trudeau earns annually as Prime Minister. request conducted by Research Co.

Only 18 per cent of the 1,000 Canadians surveyed correctly said the prime minister earns between $301,000 and $400,000 a year.

Trudeau’s salary this year is 379 thousand dollars.

According to the poll, 42 percent of people thought the prime minister’s annual salary was less than $301,000, while 24 percent thought Trudeau received more than $400,000 each year.

“In the last federal election, only nine per cent of Liberal Party voters thought the prime minister’s salary was above $500,000 a year,” Research Co. president Mario Canseco said. “In 2021, the proportion is higher among those who support the Conservative Party (17 percent) and the New Democratic Party (19 percent).”

When asked about the prime minister’s annual compensation, 41 percent said they thought it was “too much,” while 47 percent said it was “about right.”

Breaking down the data by province, more than half (52 per cent) of Saskatchewan and Manitoba residents said they thought the prime minister’s salary was too high.

As for Albertans, 51 per cent felt the same way.

However, the proportion was lower in other marzes. Only 45 per cent of respondents in Atlantic Canada, 41 per cent in B.C.


The methodology:

The results are based on an online survey conducted between February 9 and February 11, 2023, among 1,000 Canadian adults. Data are statistically weighted according to Canadian Census figures for age, sex, and region. The margin of error, which measures sampling variability, is +/- 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
